Council submits Casino bid to Advisory Panel

EAST Lindsey District Council has asked the Government’s Casino Advisory Panel to recommend that the Authority be given the power to grant a licence for a small casino, under the provisions of the Gambling Act 2005.

The District Council, working in conjunction with Lincolnshire County Council and its regeneration partners, has submitted a document to the Advisory Panel entitled ‘A new sense of place’.

The document outlines the economic and social benefits that this type of development would bring to the east coast.

If the Council’s licence bid is successful the development would comprise of a small casino with restaurants and bars, plus a four-star hotel.

The Council would then work to encourage further leisure facilities to be included, which may include a multi screen cinema or bowling alley, for example.
The District Council’s Portfolio Holder for Regeneration, Cllr Peter Leather, said that a casino would bring huge benefits to the local community:

“A casino would further help the Council to develop an all year round economy and would create a number of sustainable employment opportunities, in line with the Council’s priorities,” he said.
